Большое яблоко ( символ Нью-Йорка). В Нью-Йорке часто можно встретить таблички, где после слов ‘I love...' изображено красное яблоко. Говорят, эти таблички придумал мэр города Эдвард Коч в середине 1970-х гг., чтобы с их помощью активизировать помощь горожан муниципалитету. На ночном Бродвее тж. есть небоскрёб с огромной световой рекламой в виде падающего яблока. За Нью-Йорком давно и прочно закрепилось прозвище «Большое Яблоко» < официальная версия гласит, что это прозвище возникло в 1920—30-х гг. в Гарлеме, когда в джазовых композициях на все лады повторялся речитатив о яблоках, которых всегда много на дереве, но Нью- Йорк — это Большое Яблоко, единственное и неповторимое.
